Using XP OS, running IE version 6.0
2800.1106xpsp2.030422-1633ic.

E-mail (earthlink) and Netscape 6 run fine, but Explorer
suddenly is not able to access the web.

No new SW or other changes to the environment (running on
Compaq laptop). All current patches and upgrades installed
in Explorer.

DID NOTE AN ERROR MESSAGE PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM: C+ Runtime
error (I believe, not sure this is exactly correct).

Please advise. Prefer to run Explorer, but will switch to
Netscape if this bug persists.

Thanks,

Cliff

Try repairing internet explorer.

To do this, click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
Add Remove programs, then find Microsoft Internet
Explorer 6 SP1 (or your version) and
click "change/Remove". A new window will appear with an
option to "Repair Internet Explorer". Choose this, and
when complete, restart your computer.

Hope this helps.

Cliff,

First, eliminate spyware! and see if this helps.

Scott:

Thanks for your advice. I tried it and never got the
"repair internet explorer" message. Instead, it just
removed IE and I can't seem to re-install from the HD - I'm
on a laptop at a remote location and have no access to
other resources (recovery disks, original OS, etc.).

What now? I'm a commercial winemaker and I'll send you a
nice bottle of Oregon Pinot noir (or Chardonnay) if you can
solve my problem
