Recently I receive the error "IE has encounted a problem and needs to
close..." when I let a web page close the window (secure bank site). It
happens every time when I let the web page close the IE window. Sometimes
when I close an IE window I get the same error. This problem has only
recently started. I have run spy sweeper, ad-aware and NAV 2005 and they
show no spyware, trojans or viruses. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi,
Run CWShredder from http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.exe in
addition to Ad-aware.
Are you running the latest version of Ad-aware SE? Are the definition files
up to date?

You may be looking for a legitimate program that's interfering with IE.
Disable (for diagnostic purposes) toolbars, ad-blockers, security/privacy
programs, etc. A program may need to be reinstalled- or not reinstalled. If
disabling Norton AV, or another AV, helps, reinstalling the AV program
should fix things. Also, some programs which interact with IE may need an
update to work with XP SP2 (you don't mention your Windows version) Check
the program's website.

Don,
Sorry I didn't mention I am running XP SP2. I ran CWShredder, Ad-Aware etc.
Same problem. I do think I found the culprit though. I had recently
installed Webroots Phish Net beta. I removed it and now it seems everything
is OK as before removing it I received the error everytime I let a web page
close the browser. Thanks for you help
