Okay whenever i click Internet in XP start menu it does not load, nor does it
load when I double-click the iexplorer.exe. Though the strange thing is that
if I load a webpage from a link in say a email or open a favourite up it
loads perfectly fine.

How can I restore IE to normal?

Thanks for your help Ramesh. I will follow your advice ASAP. But I might add
that my Internet Explorer doesn't even open when I do as I described above.
All I see is the hourglass mouse icon and nothing more happens.

Thanks for your time,

Ignore my last post, I disabled 3rd Party Programs and reenabled them. Now IE
works fine.

You're welcome DXPetti. The next step is to spot and eliminate the
particular 3rd party extension. Unwanted add-ons are installed if the
security settings are Low (in Internet Explorer). Note down the Security
tips from Mike Burgess, in his site below:

For an already infected system, you need these tools to remove the malware.

How to safe-guard my system from spyware?:

Note: Spyware removers are rules-based and are updated very frequently as
and when new malware is discovered. Therefore, update both of these tools
before scanning, very important.

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe

Download the latest versions of this tool *AND* also update the database
immediately before running a full scan. If that does not help, download
HijackThis from http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ Generate a log using
HijackThis and visit any of these forums below to post your HijackThis log.
The experts there will guide you how to remove the spyware from your system:

Spyware prevention methods:
------------------------------
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Block AD/Spyware sites using HOSTS file [very effective]
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Protects your system from a huge list of unwanted ActiveX controls. *You
need to update the database through the online update feature provided by
this software*

Then, download Toolbarcop from http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/toolbarcop.htm
and run it. From the Options menu, click "Increase Security level for
Internet Zone (Internet Explorer)".

Using IE-Spyad to enhance your privacy and security:

blocks a huge list of websites and domains that can cause privacy or
security issues on your computer.
