IE dies when invoked

Well, here's a really bizarre problem that I hope someone can help with -
I'd be forever grateful!

We have XP and IE 6 with sp1. 4 users of the computer have up until
recently all been able to use IE. Recently one user cannot. IE dies with
the infamous "IE has encountered and problem and has to close" pop-up as
soon as it is invoked. Doesn't even get to the home page. Other 3 users
work fine. Also, the suffering user CAN invoke IE from Outlook and it works
fine.

I cleaned out all history, cached pages, etc. to no avail. Reset all
setting to the original default - no help.

I suspect that it's a registry problem for this user. Anyone seen this kind
of thing? Thanks much.

Brian,
There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite)

Download, install, *update* and run these two programs:
Ad-aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Spybot from http://security.kolla.de/

Hope this helps,

Download Netscape 7.1, for those internet pages that give you these types of
problem. I had the same problem when attempting to view the Printed Ad
Section of LA Times. After getting Netscape for those specific pages, no
further problems. I did attempt to use the recommended Spyware Buster
programs, but they did not fix the problem. I think the thing to do is to
wiat for the next release of Windows OS.
