IE closes w/error in mshtml.dll in iexplore.exe, always in Yahoo m

If anyone can tell me if a fix occurs for this, I would be grateful.

When I go into IE, is some sites (even in Microsoft site), when I'm doing
some kind of search or link, I get the message "Internet Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close". When I go to see more details,
the information is as follows:
AppName: iexplore.exe
Mod Ver 6.0.2900.252?
AppVer: 6.02900.2180
Offset 00002?7
Mod Name: mshtml.dll
(?=can't read number on screen print)
I had windows xp 6.0 sp1. This just started to occur a week ago. Thought I
had a virus or something (no antivirus software). Installed Norton and ran
it. Found something and cleaned it up. Also upgraded to SP2. Problem still
occurs.

Yahoo uses a lot of Java code for various sites. MS Java VM was prohibited
by a court decision. If you lack the MS Java, the MS update site will refuse
