IE and OE freezes

Lately, I've had unpredictable freezes, usually when scrolling in IE6 or
OE6. When it happens there's nothing I can do except hit the restart
button.
I have AMD 950 w/ 512mB and the side is off the pc, the fan is clean and
working. and there is absolutely no warning.
Anyone experiencing sudden freeze-ups? maybe after patching in one of the
most recent security fixes?
