I've just upgraded my system from WinXP Pro SP1 to SP2 and it greeted me with
a quite a few errors. I've figured out solutions to a few probs but I still
need help on 2 more probs.

1. I'm using IE6. There are a few websites that I can't enter because of
this prob. I got a message saying, "Your current security settings prohibit
running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display
correctly." I clicked OK and the "Page cannot be found" page appears. I tried
changing security level to low and enable all ActiveX settings but still I
can't go to the site.

2. 2nd problem : Whenever I go to the Control Panel or exit from Control
Panel, I receive an error message saying that Windows Explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close. It also asks me whether I want to
send report or not. If I choose "Don't Send", the system doesn't crash or
reboot, but I can never browse through My Computer or My Documents or
anything that has something to do Explorer until I restart my PC. If I choose
"Send Error Report", I get a message on the Microsoft Online Crash Analysis
saying that no solution is available for the problem. It also states, "We
have detected that your computer is missing important security and
performance-related features offered by Windows XP SP2." I executed Windows
Update and there is no update available.

It will be much appreciated if anyone can help me with this problems.

Thanks...

This is because.. one: Windows SP2 is a load of junk.. it
is filled with bugs.
I can't "Unblock" a zip file my friend sent me. SP2 may
just make me get Linux for basic typing and stuff. Windows
has become obselete and will be used for nothing except
games.
But for the ActiveX thing try to do a ctrl+refresh for the
webpage.. or try clearing your history and such then going
there again.

I hate to sound like a broken record here in the Microsoft Publics, but
this could very well be malicious software. There could be an IE
extension that is hijacking your page loads, but isn't working correctly
and often malware hooks into Windows Explorer in order to run and if it
is poorly written it can crash Windows Explorer. You likely had this
malware before you installed SP2, but the SP2 installation broke the
malware and now you have the result that nothing is working correctly,
neither SP2 nor the malware.

Without feedback it is hard to know, but there seem to be a lot of
problems with Windows Explorer after SP2 update that could be caused by
malicious software.
