IE 8 on SP3

Can IE8 be installed on XP SP3?

Note that IE8 doesn't exist yet, so it can't be installed anywhere.

All that exists of IE8 is a beta test version of it. The reason it's a
beta test version instead of a released version is that it still has
bugs in it, and Microsoft is looking for beta test users to inform
them of other bugs as they are found,

In my view, unless you have a spare computer to install it on, and
enjoy doing beta testing of software and reporting of bugs to
Microsoft, installing such beta software is just looking for trouble.

Yes, you can install the beta version on XP SP3, but I strongly advise
*against* doing that, and waiting for it to be released.

A release candidate was recently released.

A BETA program does NOT mean it still has bugs as you stated. Beta simply
means it is still under test
and has not been released. It could be completely bug free.

This was towards Philo I would guess?

I don't know where that post came from,
it did not show up on my server...
but I would not go with a Beta product or even a release candidate...
I maintain that it's best to just wait for the release itself.

Yes, maybe the RC is bug free
OTOH: even the final relapse may still have bugs in it!

That's probably because Thee Chicago Wolf deleted the attribution and
Unknown is in your killfile. ;-)

My KF is pretty small
but he might have made it there <G>

Yes, of course final is best.
