Control Panel --> Add and Remove Programs --> Show Updates --> Remove
Internet Explorer 7 (reverting back to Internet Explorer 6)

I tried that. I still get the same problem.

Is it the same file every time? It is quite possible that the problem is
the other end, at the server. Personally I'd probably try Firefox ..
downloading the Firefox installer will tell you whether it's 'any file'
or just the one, and Firefox has a much nicer 'pause, resume, restart'
facility on file download (than IE6 .. not sure about how IE7 handles
downloads).

Alternatively, can anyone else download this file properly?

its not just one file. its anything i try and d/l. I have also tried using
firefox and i can d/l with firefox. but i'd like to know why this is
happening. and also like to know how i can fix this. havent installed or
uninstalled anything. there have been no changes to my system. it just
started doing this like 3 days ago.

You might want to post to the internet explorer newsgroup. It isn't clear
from your post if your having the problem in IE7 or IE6 or both. Please be
specific when reposting to include the information.

There are quite a few posts there so peruse them for something on topic
before posting a new message.
