ie 6 not getting IP address, plz help! optimized messed up.

Hi -
I downloaded optimizer which i think screwed up my
registry, i can't get on-line with ie 6.
no ip address, i tried cmd ipconfig/release/renew. no go.
should i uninstall ie 6 and reload?
i have network connectivity from nic card and router.
also tried disabling and renabling internet connection,
i have tried everything i knOW
please advise...
