IE 6 is giving me some problems with certain pages

I'm not sure what is causing this but when I click on a
java applet link the new window won't come up? Also some
images show up as an outline with a little red "X"
enclosed by a border? And lastly when I click a link to
be redirected to a home page or something IE will open a
new window but the status bar stays blank and a blank
screen is all I get, but if I copy the address to the url
clipboard and paste it into the address bar it will work?
If anyone has any ideas on what settings I may need to
fiddle with please let me know...
