IE 6 error message on start

IE 6 will not start up if I have "Enable third-party
browser extensions" checked in Tools>Internet
Options>Advanced>Browsing. Is it necessary to have this
checked or do I need to re-install IE? I've run Ad-Aware
& SpyBot and tried to restart IE with the same error
message unless I uncheck the above box. Thanx in advance
for any help.
 
Disabling third-party browser extensions is an option using which we are telling Internet Explorer not to load the 3rd party plugins. This is a quick workaround to disable malware plugins and this obviously disables all the legit ones [google toolbars, for example]. If you want to selectively disable/delete third-party plugins [BHOs], you may consider using ToolbarCop utility which I wrote:
