dan

we have five xp home edition computers each with seperate
cd's that we ordered...We had them all marked and sorted
to correspond to which computer they go with etc... until
someone got into cd box and rearranged them. Is there
someway to put disc in computer and bring up numbers that
correspond to each indivdval cd or not so we can get them
back to thier original computers they came with etc...

Dan,

The PK is NOT embedded in the individual CD. OEM CD PKs can NOT be used with
Retail OS and vice versa, but if they are all the same type the CDs can be
used interchangeably.

To sort out which PK was used on each machine, I highly recommend the
following Free utility:
-AIDA32, available for DL at www.aida32.hu. You can run this and print
out/store the info so that you'll have the specs and License numbers (more
than just the OS) in one place. Secure the info so that you can find it
easily and you'll be well-prepared in case you need to reload the OS in the
future.

All the CDs are the same as long as they have exactly the same version of
XP.
If you think about it, the process of making those CDs would be very
expensive if each one of them was to contain slightly different data. It's
a cookie cutter deal.
