Would it be possible to add some sort of identifier that is displayed to each
post? It would be easier to find/mark a thread of interest rather than
searching on a Subject or poster name.

And is there a way to search on a date? For example, subject and date to
find a thread?

Are you using the internet to work with the newsgroup?

Most of us use a newsgroup program (like Outlook Express) where we can mark
messages to "watch". Searching offers several options there as well.

On the website version of the newsgroup, I thought that one of the search
options was based on date. Have not used it in a while. To search, I
typically use google groups.

http://groups-beta.google.com/advanced_search - specify date ranges,
one or multiple newsgroups, keywords, key phrases, authors, pretty
much anything.

Agent (and several other newsreader programs) let you flag threads for
automatic followup, automatic disposal, etc.

Psst... even Microsoft folks use Google to search their newsgroups. So
far it's better than any Microsoft search tool.
