Identifying Hardware?

Hello All
I need to run some sort of script to identify different machines by Vendor,
ie HP, Compaq, IBM, Dell etc.
Can I do this with WMI?
I am not a total scripting novice, but could do with a few pointers.

Look http://www.codeproject.com/vbscript/VvvHardwareInfo.asp - it is HTA
that uses VBScript and shows some hardware info.
