Arrgh! Somehow I now have in my folders view to identical
pst files and I am unable to close one of them. They seem
to be simply mirrors of the same folder (if I move an
email message to a folder in one of them, it also shows
the email message in the other). Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had the same situation having 3 folders. Here is a link
in the knowledge base
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;823127&Product=out2003), but is not the best solution.
I finally ended up calling MS support & for $35 the tech
got things squared away. Apparently, this must be common
as he moved through the solution quickly. The money was
well spent.

Before you call make sure you copy your .pst files to a
another folder. Basically, what will happen is you'll
create a new mail account, make that your default &
import your personal folders into the new account. Good
luck.

Follow-up to my previous response. Here are the notes
received from MS Support on my call to solve the same
problem.

ISSUE
========
Three Personal Folders in OL...CU wants to remove Two and
have just one

ACTIONS TAKEN/ITEMS DISCUSSED
=============================
1)Exported one of the Personal Folders the one with all
the data onto Desktop 2)Created New Profile, Imported the
PST file from the Desktop into new profile 3)COntacts
were missing, located the contacts and the subfolders
exported them to the Desktop 4)Imported the PST with the
contacts alone into the New Profile 5)Archived the New
Profile, CU has a Old archive.pst....to get the data in
this archive into the present archive
Open data files....point to archive1.pst and import the
stuff from the archive.pst into archive1.pst

Why not save others the $35 and post here what was done to fix your problem?

Oops. I guess you did post the answer. Forget my misguided suggestion.
