Sometime during the last few days I must have done something silly which has
resulted the ID3 data, artist, date, album, genre etc no longer being
displayed in windows explorer. Just titles are listed.

The data is still present on the mp3 files and can be seen using mp3tag
editor.

I have googled but unless I am asking the wrong question there are no useful
references.

I have been through tools/folder options several times but cannot find a way
of unhiding the data.

XP+SP2 installed.

Can a contributor to this NG kindly point me towards a solution. I know that
it is not a critical issue but I would like to have this data displayed in
windows explorer as it has been for the last 2 years.

TIA

You can enable/disable balloon & Info tips:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Name: EnableBalloonTips
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 <--- disables tips

Thanks, both values are 1 and baloon tips are OK.

What I need is a way of enabling the windows explorer to show the mp3 tag
data. The heading are shown, artist, year, bitrate, genre etc. but the data
is not being displayed.
