Doo-dah
I've been trying to sort out Internet Connection Sharing between my kids
PC and mine. I'm on AOL which I understand can be a problem with ICS.
I use XP, Pro, the other machine uses Win Me.
The setup is a USB modem into my PC, then a straight cable from my PC
network port into a router. The other PC has a straight cable from the
NIC port into another port on the router, effectively using as a hub (I
think).
I have had ICS running OK with a cross-over cable using 98se and a
different ISP, but have not tried to connect in this way before, ie
using the router.
I can get the network running fine, but cannot connect to the Internet
from the other PC at all.
Also when I try to run ipconfig or ping on my machine, I get a message
saying that they are not recognised as a valid command or batch file.
Something's (or a number of things) obviously wrong.
Anyone any ideas?
