ok, i know this really isn't important of life
threatening. but how do i make the background color that
is just behind the names of the icons on my desktop go
away? lets say i have a picture of a flower for a desktop
background, i don't want the names of the icons to be on
little blue square, i want them to blend better with the
background. clear as mud? i did it before but can't
remember how...
thanx,

Display>Appearance tab>Effects button. In next dialog box, unmark "Show
shadows under names".

Maybe try right click desktop, properties, appearance, effects, cleartype.
