What is the size of your monitor or LCD?
In the Control Panel/Display what have you set the Screen Resolution to?

I believe its around a 20". Um i was changing it around but i think its on
the 800 x 600. i know thats probably not right but

If it's a 20 inch CRT monitor then the resolution should be set to at least
1280 x 1024.
If it's a 20 inch LCD then there should be a native (best/optimal)
resolution. I would expect this to be more like 1600 x 1200 but check user's
manual for monitor to be sure.

I don't think there's any "should" here at all. You should set it to what
works best for you, and since our eyes are of different ages, and are not
all the same, what's best for one of us isn't necessarily what's best for
all of us.

That said, I think most people would be happiest at 1280x1024 on a 20"
monitor. That's the resolution I run on my 19".

LCD Monitors are much more easy to read (clear) at there recommended
resolution, move up or down in resolution and the screen is not as easy to
read. CRT monitors don't have this problem. So the settings I recommended
are starting points, certainly better than 800 x 600.

Yes, but the statement I responded to dealt with CRT monitors, not LCD ones.

If the statement is that you *recommend* a 1280x1024 setting on a 20" CRT
monitor, as a *starting point* for someone to experiment with and find what
works best for him, than I have no quarrel with what you said. I would
recommend exactly the same thing. My only real disagreement is with the word
"should," which says that any lower resolution is wrong. It would be wrong
for me, and it's apparently wrong for you, but it's *not* wrong for
everyone.
