icons on desktop

i have two icons on my desktop i cannot dele say some one else is used them

Log on in Safe Mode and delete them.

Try to Disable the running processes for these Icons if they are for
Programs then try the deletion.

It would be helpful if you told us the names of the these two icons. They may
not be standard shortcuts and if so, would require special handling to
delete/disable.

These appear to be special downloads that you selected. If this was done
recently, I'd suggest using System Restore to go back to a date prior to this
action.

Sounds as if they may be *programs* that you've downloaded to your
Desktop rather than simple shortcut icons. Have a look in Add/Remove
Programs and see if they're listed there. If they are, uninstalling them
will remove the icons for you.
