I am trying to put together a training PP in PP 2003-SP3. My idea is to show
the various screens that the end user will see on sequential slides as they
go thru the process for which they are being trained. I am stuck on the very
first thing - how to put a copy of the icon that the user clicks to open the
program... Could anyone help me with how to put the picture of the desktop
icon into a slide? I've tried several things, of which none have been
successful. Postings to other user discussion sites have been helpful in the
past, so i am very hopeful of getting an answer! Thank you so very much in
advance for your help! Sincerely, mary trueblood

Mary,

Here's a little known trick.....

On your keyboard....

Press the "PrintScreen / Prt/Scr" key. This takes a snapshot of the current screen.
Edit > Paste will paste the snapshot into powerpoint. Where you can right click the pasted snapshot and choose the
"picture toolbar" to crop the image.

However... you are much better off, if you paste the image into a pixel basher (photoshop, ms photo editor, paint shop
pro, gimp etc), then do your cropping. Then save the image, then in powerpoint "insert menu > picture > from file"

Mary,

I'd prefer the procedure TAJ described, but if you need the icon ONLY, you
could also use a freeware program like Icon Snatcher
(http://members.xoom.com/cdisoftware) to extract it from the program file.

Kind regards,
Ute
