Icons don't disappear

When I delete a file in Explorer, the icon for that file remains until I
refresh the window or navigate to another folder and then back again.

Any ideas? I am running WinXP SP2 with IE7 and am up to date with Windows
updates.
 
P.S The problem seems to be intermittent and occurs within user document
folders. Maybe the issue is related to the Indexing service?
