About 5 seconds after startup, my icons and toolbar dissapear. I am unable
to do anything but task manager. I am using Win XP Home Edition. If anyone
knows how to fix, or knows a link to a fix, please help me!!! Thanks Allot
for any help!

In task manager click on file (upper left corner) select new task now type
in

explorer.exe

click ok. Does your desktop return?
I had this once and after running checkdisc it hasn't come back.

I just tried this, and it did nothing. This actually happened to me twice
after installing SBC Yahoo Protection Suite. I am guessing there is some kind
of software confliction? What I did to solve it last time was to just
reinstall windows, should i just do it again and not install the Yahoo Anti
Virus/ Spyware Protection software and find a new one to use? Thanks for your
help!

I would uninstall the Yahoo (crap) and reboot and see if youe desktop
returns to normal.
The avti-virus/malware packages offered by yahoo or ones ISP's really are
not very good, they just provid them so people think their getting a good
value (not so).

If the uninstall doesn't help use system restore to a date before you
installed yahoo av.

I was able to uninstall the Anti Virus package, unfortunatly I am unable to
restore because i was never able to save any resotre points. The computer
was built by a friend a few months back, and he needed the money so i
purchased from him. He had no restore points saved ( i am guessing because it
had to be done manually, and he had no idea how to do it). So knowing this,
do you suggest to just do a clean install of windows and just avoid the Yahoo
crap?
