I got a new computer with windows xp home edition. Well it ain't working
right. When I turn the monitor back on ( I leave the pc on but shut off the
monitor) there are no icons on the desktop, just wallpaper. I have to
re-boot to get my program back. Same thing happened today when I
de-activated the screen saver and again there were no icons on my desktop.
Also, when I started OE to check my mail the OE screen came up and then just
sat there with the hourglass hovering above it.
Have no idea what is causing this. Have communicated with hp tech. support
via the help button on the pc and they tell me that I must have downloaded a
virus from the internet.
I don't believe this one bit. I have been to the yahoo site and checked my
mail that was it. I have a notion to return the pc to the store. What do you
think could be the problem. It just has happened one time too often.

Very simple solution, right click on your desktop a small
menu appears, go to the item that says, "Arrange Icons
By" and then "Hide Desktop Icons", if there is not a
check next to it then click on it, I believe that might
help.
