Hi,

When I open up "My Computer" there is an icon of a hand underneath one of my
disk drives. Does anyone know what this is and what it means?

Thanks

It seems more than likely that the drive in question is shared on the
network. Right-click on it and turn off sharing and see if the pesky
hand goes away.

It means the drive is being shared so other users on your
network can access files on that drive.

Right click the drive and select Properties from the menu.
Click on the Sharing tab and look in the "Network Sharing and
Security" box. You should see a check mark in the box next to
"Share this folder on the network". Click on "Learn more about
sharing and security" if you want more info on this subject.

Good luck

Thanks very mcuh for your helpful replies. I recently had a network installed
at home so had not noticed the icon before.

Can you post a screenshot?
