Icon transparency

I un checked a box in well i am not exactly sure what i did. the background
of my icons on my destop are black i know how to change the coulor but i can
not figure out how to make them transparent again thanks alot .

Go to the Display applet in Control Panel and look on the Desktop tab.
Click on Customize Desktop, and then click on the Web tab. You will see
that there are checkmarks next to "My Current Home Page" and probably
"Lock Desktop Items". Uncheck these. Then open the System applet in
Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the
Performance section. Turn on the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on
the desktop option", and click Ok.

Four things are required for transparent icon backgrounds:

1) System Properties>Advanced>Performance Settings>VisualEffects - check
"use drop shadows for icon labels".

2) Right-click on Desktop ->Arrange Icons by>Lock Web items must be
cleared.

3) If you have any web content on your desktop, transparency won't work.
To check for web content: Display Properties>Desktop>Customize
Desktop>Web - make sure all checkboxes are clear.

4) Wallpaper must be an image file, not html.

1. Right-click on the Desktop and select "Arrange by Icons" then UNCHECK
"Lock Web Items on Desktop".

-and/or-

2. Go to the Control Panel then System Properties, then the Advance tab,
then the Performance button. Locate and enable (place a check mark) "Use
drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop".

Desktop icons and icon labels may not display background transparency or the
drop shadow effect in Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP

Also right click on My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Performance
Settings. Put a tic mark in Use drop shadows for icon labels on the
desktop.
