The computer is a Compaq 8000 T It came with a 2.0 Intel
Pentium 4 processor . I installed a 2.40 process. Upon the
boot up it said that I need a microcode patch Rom Bios for
XP. Does anyone know how to correct this.

Why would you not contact Compaq?

It means you will need to update the Motherboard BIOS so the new CPU will
work properly. There are other possibilities, but most likly need a BIOS
update.

But you sure about the model of your PC, the minimum CPU that comes with
that model is a 2.8GHz CPU and the standard for it is a 3GHz CPU, and the
max is a 3.4GHz CPU. May be you got the 2 and 3 mixed around.

You can download BIOS updates from
http://www.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

but you better get in contact with Compaq.

Sure hope your didn't pay much for that upgrade because I doubt that you'll
see much change in performance.
