I need to back up my registry (Wins XP, Home Edition)
because a website has hijacked my homepage and redirects me
back to it when I use Internet Explorer. Another poster got
advice on a similar problem; see below:

If you don't have an XP CD, you can download ntbackup.msi at
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

Save to a folder on your hard drive, than double click the
saved
ntbackup.msi file to install...

My copy of XP Home Edition came with my machine. Since it
is the Home Edition, it does not have the backup utility
installed, and I do not have a copy of the XP CD. Is
there anyplace I can download this utility program? I've
searched and searched the MS site and can't find
anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

BUT, when I try going to:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi

I just get gibberish text.
A) Do I need to go through this proceedure if I don't have
an original XP CD?
B) Is there aqn easier way to back up my registry before I
follow Microsoft's directions for 'removing hijacking
websites' from my registry?

Thanks Kelly and Rick,
Rick--I already have Adaware on my system, and Trend's
PcCillin, 2000. I just realized that my 'free'copy of
"Hacker Eliminator" was really just a trial version that
has already expired. I assume I need new protection against
hackers immediately, but Eliminator wants $100 for their
downloadable software. 1)Can you recommend a better value?
2) Given the above do I stil need to follow your #2 and #3
instructions below?

Much obliged folks, Ron

Hi,

1) No recommendations.

2) Different programs detect different things, I would suggest you use each.
