What I would like to do is to create a hyperlink from a folder to another
folder.
For example: By clicking on the actual folder, the hyperlink jumps to a
folder on a different disc drive.

The reason for doing this is because although I have an 80G drive, the My
Documents > My Pictures folders has grown to the point that now I only have
7G available and I would like to move all the pictures to a 250G drive but be
able to hyperlink to the folder when anyone clicks on the My Pictures folder.
Doing this I can dedicate one disc drive to pictures and at the same time
free up the C: drive allowing WinXP Pro run to operate.

Can this be done?

You're simply looking for a Redirection. Most all the "My...." can be
assigned or directed to other drive/folder locations. Tweak-UI ( a
Microsoft Power Toy) can be used to redirect personal data stores.
Basically, you move the content from it's existing location to where
you want it reside. Then use Tweak-UI, My Computer, Special
Folders - toggle the Folder window to "My Pictures" and then click
the "Change Location" button and browse to the destination folder.
Tweak-UI for Windows XP (SP1 or greater) here:

Not a "hyperlink" as such but review article number 205524 in the microsoft
knowledgebase (extract below)

How to create and manipulate NTFS junction points

SUMMARY
You can surpass the 26 drive letter limitation by using NTFS junction
points. By using junction points, you can graft a target folder onto another
NTFS folder or "mount" a volume onto an NTFS junction point. Junction points
are transparent to programs.

Just make a new folder on the roomy drive and put your pictures in
there. Then create a shortcut to that folder on your Desktop.

Thanks ! I downloaded the Tweak-UI and installed it. I checked and I have SP2.
I tried it by creating a test folder on the D: drive and redirecting the My
Video folder as you've shown below. Then clicked on apply.
When I double click on the My Documents > My Video folder, the redirections
is not taking place. It opens the now empty My Video folder.
What else do I need to do?
Thanks....

You have to move your existing content to the newly created/defined
folder. So if you redirect My Video to say D:\Docs\Video, you have
to more the existing data from C:\Documents & Settings\"YourName"\
My Video over to the D:\Docs\Video folder.
It's a little convoluted, but does that explanation help ?

By existing data do you mean the data that was in the folder My Video?
I did this. I moved all the contents from the My Video folder to the new
folder before I did the redirection.
Thanks...

That's the way it should work. Did you logoff & back on the PC
after changing the My Video ? Probably a good idea to revisit
Tweak-UI and double-check the redirect and make sure you
have it set and that the change was "Sticky" (Permanent).

I logged off and came back on when I did the redirection. Should I shut down?
I opened Tweak-UI. Here is what I see in Special Folders:

Folder: My Video
Location:
D:\Test Folder on D_drive

I think that the redirection is mapped.

Sounds like everything is correctly set. To test, create a file or copy
one into the D:\Test Folder on D_drive. Then use Explorer to navigate
to My Video and see if the 'Test' file appears in the listing. If so, then
you just need to move/copy your existing video data into the folder.

Although the D:\Test Folder on D_drive already has 8 files in it, I did as
you suggested and copied a file into the D:\Test Folder on D_drive folder.

I used Explorer to navigate to My Video but none of the files including the
newly copied appear in the listing.

Should I try unistalling and re-installing Tweak-UI?
BTW, what I have is Windows XP Pro. Don't know if this makes a difference vs
Home Edition.
Thanks....

Awww, Malke, that's way too simple. (Smile.)

Actually, the OP could also place a "My Pictures 250"
shortcut pointing to the roomy drive's new My Pictures folder
into the C drive's My Documents folder. Then, instead of
hyperlinking, he/she could simply click on the "My
Pictures 250" shortcut to immediately jump to the big
drive. At least, it seems like this approach would work.

The shortcut is a good idea, but... what is needed is that it is a folder.
When a shortcut is created it's just that a shortcut.
The requirement is that if behaves like a folder so that when I'm in an
application that needs to open a folder in My Documents, the window
displaying the folders shows the My Pictures folder. This will not happen
with a shortcut...

Awww, it's not that simple. (Smile)....

Read the post from R. McCarty... that seems to be the solution

There are two separate issues here: redirecting My Pictures to a different drive (which seems to have been accomplished), and creating a link under My Docs which points to the new folder.

To create a shortcut to your new folder which acts like a real folder, do the following:

Open an explorer window to your start menu (right-click the Start button & select 'Open').

Open a second window to the parent of your target folder ("F:\" in your case)

Right-click the target folder & drag it to you Start Menu folder -- release the button & select "Create Shortcut".

Move the new shortcut to your My Documents folder.
