I only want to heara signal for one folder - the others are newsgroup and not

chimes??

Outlook doesn't read newsgroups - unless you're on an Exchange server with
public folders configured for same (in which case you won't get any 'new
mail notification' anyway). Are you perhaps using Outlook Express? If so -
wrong group.

Definitely using outlook - I have Outlook configured to put certain emails
from discussion groups into seperate folders. MS has ways of distinguishing
those folders in some ways - i.e. archiving difference - but there doesn't
seem to be a way to indicate that you want to be notified audibly on just
the main inbox. Thanks for your help.

They're all coming into your inbox and then getting moved via rules, right?
So they are firing off notifications because they went into your inbox in
the first place.

straight to a folder??

Nope - sorry. Not unless you have an Exchange server & a mail-enabled public
folder or another shared mailbox.

eltee115,
Check out this outlook plugin - AutoRead
(http://www.techhit.com/autoread/)
You can configure it such that Inbox is only the one that chimes.
Read the third item under "Functionality" in their FAQ
(http://www.techhit.com/autoread/faq.html)
Guess that's what you'r looking for.
HTH

The mail *is* hitting the inbox. And then being moved to another folder....

If you are affiliated in any way with this or any company whose products you
reference, please mention that in your post.

If you aren't affiliated, make mention of that as well.

Otherwise a lot of people will think you're a spammer - this is a shareware
product, not a freeware one. And you will get flamed.

Lanwench, Thanks for the suggesting the etiquette.
I'm a newbie here, so it certainly helps.
No, I am *not* affiliated in any way to the shareware products I
reference.
I've been using them, so that's how I'm familiar.
Coming back to the topic, the workaround mentioned in the faq seems to
work for me.

OK - when I recommend a product, I like to include something that says "I
don't work for these people; I just like their stuff". It will reduce the
volume of incensed replies you might otherwise get.
