Hello.

I should like to know whether there is any good that comes from changing the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
Management\IoPageLockLimit in Windows XP.

Both X-Teq's X-Setup and SpeedXP (two tweaking tools I use), have an adjustment
and a recommended value for this setting (depending on the installed RAM). But
I have read differing advice about this.

I have read that it should be set as close to 1/4th of the total installed
System RAM (in 128-byte increments) as possible. I have read that it should be
set to certain specific MB values according to how much free RAM shows in the
Performance Monitor. I have read that Windows XP absolutely does not heed this
setting if it is found in the Registry.

So, I am hoping to find out which information is the correct information.

Are there any savvy folks who know?

Thanks for any info you might provide.

When in doubt, don't mess is my motto.

Really, every system is going to be slightly different,
and trial/error is the only way you'll find out what
really "works".

I doubt the performance benefit will be all that much, if
any though.

Intel says:"default is at 0 which =512kb setting in 1024kb incriments until you max out
A good bechmarking program will show this when reached. For some systems 8192kb (8MB)
and higher may result in performance gains".

Thank you for your answer.
