hi,

A LITTLE BIT OF NETRWORKING PROBLEMS.

can anyone tell me if there is any difference between 10/100 MBPS I/O Box
and 1000 MBPS I/O Box.

in our server we have one "1 GB" Copper port. for this is it necessary to
have exclusive 1000 MBPS I/O box or that the normal ones i.e 10/100 MBPS I/O
box would do.

is it that the same I/O box will support both 10/100/1000 MBPS, provided we
use CAT-5 (10/100) CAT-6 (10/100/1000) cables. this is my guess.am i right???
having a real confusion on this I/O box issue. pls suggest.

Hi -

Without knowing a bit more about your hardware it's impossible to say
for sure, but *most* gigabit Ethernet cards are configured to fall back
to 10 or 100 Mbit connections if a gigabit connection isn't available.

Hope this helps -
