I need your opinion on this...and maybe some help

i'm thinking of changing the whole icons sets of windows
2000 with the ones in windows XP. Is there any impact on
the whole system if I changed the shell32.dll??

I don't think it's a good idea to change shell32.dll. On the
other hand there is no reason why you should not give it
a different name and use it as a source for your icon pics.
 
Besides that, there are loads of icon libraries freely downloadable from
the web for people who want to tailor their systems that way.
