I know there are many ways to get around blocks..... but if anyone has a
good simple idea I am all ears

Depending on what type of Modem/Router you have the best/
most resistant to "Twiddling" by employees is to block the site
in the Router. Otherwise you'll have to take action on a PC by
PC basis. There are other solutions but those are best done on
a Business Domain setup.

Site by site blocking capability varies by vendor.

In your company's firewall or router.

The easiest way is to distribute a company policy: "Anyone accessing
Facebook will be skinned."

1. Hardware firewall like a Sonicwall.
2. Or Untangle running on an old box. You can also buy a preconfigured box
from them.
3. Or OpenDNS.

Dan,

ISA Server

Again, use OpenDNS, it works with all solutions, win/linux, it doesn't
care what PC is using inside your network, it applies the same filtering
for all users.

Your network administrator will know how to block Facebook, and any
other undesirable websites at the firewall and or proxy server. If he
doesn't, fire him and hire one who does.

Whether an application is blocked or not, self-control comes from within

Ive been using http://bit.ly/bJwmma .
It uses a better method than blocking social media sites because it only monitors sites like Facebook during production hours. People/Employees still have the option to use it for a breather or during breaks really . Sometimes they use it for work too in helping reach decisions. For me its really unnecessary to block Facebook.
