My install CDs have gone bad. How do I get new ones? I bought the product in
2003. I never registered it although, obviously, I activated it on the
machine.

What install CD's are you referring to? Windows XP is on only "one" CD. If
you have more than one they came with your computer and you must communicate
with the computer manufacturer for replacement.

unless you have some serious scratches on the disk
it could be your cd drive. You can get replacements by contacting Microsoft.
I do not have the link.

You didn't back up your install CDs? Some people need to learn the hard
way.

In the future, first acquire a good, fast CD burner. You can
get a 52 X on the web for under %25.

Then as you acquire software, including your OS install
disk(s), copy them. Once you've copied your install disks,
label the copies CLEARLY and ONLY use the copies for
installs.

My rule is, I will install from my "master" (the new disk I
bought) ONCE, to be sure it's a good disk. Once I have
successfully installed it, I copy it, and I "retire" the
master. I ONLY use the master after that to make a new
"copy/install" disk.

I NEVER use my masters for ANYTHING BUT making new
backup/install / copy disks.

Good luck!
