I've been hunting around for this hotfix to make my Adobe Acrobat 8.1 Printer
work. Can someone from support send it to me...would be great (would have
been better if I could have just downloaded it without having to post here
:-( )

You won't get hotfixes from newsgroups.
You need to contact Microsoft support by phone to request a hotfix. They
will send it to you once you've made the proper request.
In advance: No, they are not going to charge you for a hotfix.

Hotfixes are only available by contacting Microsoft Support as mentioned
in the KB article.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs,
visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Yo Charlie Love--

It's here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930627

How do ya get it? You call MSFT and say you want to have tech support send
you the "non-regression tested hotfix mentioned in KB 930627. Call (800)
936-5700 in US/Canada

and the context is here:

http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401730&sliceId=2

I also have another way to print whatever Adobe .pdfs throw at me. I have
One Note 2007 and that gives me a One Note icon on my IE toolbar and I just
click it and badda bing I have it in One Note. I'm a big fan of One Note
and there is a student edition for $66.

Try it free for 60 days here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/FX100487701033.aspx

I should have added that One Note will sometimes tell you to use the One
Note printer which simply means you click the pulldown after clicking
print>Send to One Note Printer and the Adobe document will show up in One
Note. However, I'm not an expert in what happens if some .pdfs are set up
not to print. Many on this group are. I haven't encountered something .pdf
I can't get into One Note yet though since MSFT released it in 2003.

If you have read the article that this Hotfix references, (KB930627) and
your very sure that you are experiencing that exact problem, then you can
use the following webform to request a copy of the Hotfix.

Contact Us: Hotfix Request Web Submission Form:
https://support.microsoft.com/common/survey.aspx?scid=sw;en;1399&showpage=1&WS=hotfix

Make sure that you complete all of the information on the form. You should
get an email, within 24 hours, with a link where you can download the
hotfix.

Microsoft is very careful with any hotfix, since these are not regression
tested and could cause problems if they are installed on a system that is
not experiencing the exact problem that they are designed to fix.

Charlie did you get the hotfix and did it solve the acrobat problem?? I
don't understand why you can download the Vista hotfix from that KB article
but not the XP or Windows Server version.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930627

You must contact MS...read where it says:
"Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended
to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only
to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may
receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by
this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that
contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs,
visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support
(http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support)

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support
calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a
specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question.
