i was running windows me and installed windows xp how do
i get all of my files and progams back

From your backups of course! What's that you say...you didn't back up...?
Well what do you expect me to do about it?! If you did a full install then
they're gone (though your programs you can reinstall from the discs). If you
did an over the top then search.
