I need help to make older programs run

I attempted to install Dungeon Keeper and Return to Zork, and got the same
not suitable for running error...
Anyone know a way to fool XP into making them run, tried config wizard and
couldn't find a combo that worked! I'm stumped and could use some
help....Please!
 
Recently I want to buy year 2001 games, but I am afraid to be not able to
run them.
How can I know which old games can I play on XP?
Actually I know XBOX games are better, but FPS and strategy games are better
to be played on a PC.
