I need help finding out why my laptop is crashing???

My laptop keeps shutting down, it seems to run longer
when i leave the laptop switched off 4 a while. I have
reformatted my hard drive, reinstalled "Windows XP SP2",
and scanned my computer with "Norton Anti Virus 2004".
and non of these have fixed the problem. can some1 please
help me fix this problem.
 
Look in the event veiwer for clues

start>run and type

eventvwr

You could have overheating issues or hardware failing to name a couple of
things.
