I need a quick way to clean out a mail box

I have a mailbox with 107,000 emails which I'd like to clean out based on
certain criteria.

I have tried once using the Rules engine but the thing is sooooo damn slow!
It would literally take all day to do it at this pace...

Is there *anything* faster?

I am a programmer so if there is any way to accomplish this with scripts or
coding some kinda of program using COM objects I'd be happy to try that as
well - I just need to know what is possible

Basically I need to delete emails based on certain text in the subject line

And rules engine = slow as slugs on a frozen tundra
