When I try to install and use Outlook XP, I get the error message that my
default mail directories can't be found do I want to open my system folders
instead. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but can't get it to work. I know
it is because I had beta 2003 installed. I also can't get FrontPage to work,
I get the error that FrontPage is not correctly installed in this computer,
no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall it. Can anyone add any
light or have any suggestions how I can get all of beta 2003 off so I can
get my office XP to work?

Carol

First you must install Outlook 203 again when you used the new pst-file
format. See the link below how you can revert back to a previous version of
Outlook;

I'm not even trying to use any pst files right now, just open it, but I have
copies of pst files for XP from my laptop. But the beta 2003 is not active
and won't open any longer. I've uninstalled the complete office 2003 and I
no longer have the beta version of office. The entire folder of discs was
destroyed at the end of the beta.

You can't open it with any program but Outlook 2003.

Then you'll need to get another trial version of OL 2003. That's the only
way you'll open that PST.

What is IT? I'm just trying to open the program EMPTY, as if it were brand
new.

I'm not sure what you mean that I can't open IT with any program but Outlook
2003. I'm not trying to open any pst file, just the program so I can start a
new set of folders. I can't open Outlook XP at all. I am not trying to open
a previous file, just the program. I have deleted all my pst files that were
created with 2003 when I deleted the program. I just want to install the
program and open it with empty files and maybe import my information from a
pst file that was created with XP and is being used with XP on my laptop.
Right now, I'd just like to be able to open the program. EVERY PST FILE ON
THAT COMPUTER HAS BEEN DELETED.

OK. I was misreading some of the posts. Sorry.

What are the EXACT steps you've taken and the EXACT error messages you've
gotten while trying to install and/or run OL 2002?

Alright, what service are running then? Exchange, POP3, IMAP, HTTP,
other...?

It is a good practise to recreate your mailprofile after an
upgrade/downgrade of Outlook;
Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...
