I made a High Mat format CD so my in-laws could view the
pictures on their DVD player. the problem is that the CD
no longer works in the computer. Even Worse, the photos
are not on the computer any longer.

How can I get the photos from a High Mat format back to
normal .JPG???

If you choose "Convert Media files written to CD" then I gather from the directions
you cannot re-convert. There is an option in HighMat to not convert which is the same
as backing up.
It will be no solace for you to say backup your photos before you do this operation.

Go here
www.highmat.com
This is on the sight
Yes. HighMAT CDs are in most cases backwards-compatible and can be viewed on
non-HighMAT devices that support playback of JPEG, MP3 or WMA formats - however, what
each device supports can vary widely. But you will only get the easy-to-use
navigation and consistent HighMAT playback experience with a device showing the
HighMAT logo.

Not sure what you mean by the CD does not work in your computer.
Place the CD in your drive. Wait 15-20 seconds for XP to recognize it. You
should see a green blinking light on your CD drive during this time.
Open My Computer, look under Devices with Removable Storage. Your CD drive
will be listed there.
Double click on it to open it. You should see your photo files listed and
they should be .jpg files.
