I lost my system administrator rights, and I'm not able to reinstall Windows XP without administrator rights. How do I accomplish this? I'm not able to perform updates, create new users, reinstall any programs, etc. HELP...I am desperate!

Hi,

What do you meant by lost? You cannot remove the last administrator account,
so there must still be one on the machine.

Boot into safe mode and use administrator account.

You *DO* know your admin' account password I hope...

Greetings --

Simply log in using the built-in Administrator account (which
cannot be deleted) and modify the desired account. By design, the only
way to log into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot
into Safe Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the
Welcome Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

However, you don't need to log in as an administrator, or anyone
else, to reinstall the OS. Simply boot from the WinXP installation
CD. You'll be offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format
partitions as part of the installation process. (You may need to
re-arrange the order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the
CD.)
