I had to restore my sytem using a restore point and now the Cursors file
under Windows is empty. So far, everything else seems to be working, but I
can't switch to different cursor schemes. I have the restore DVD that came
with my computer. How can I restore the cursors. Thank you.

Cursors foiled again? Drat.

Don't use your restore DVD as that will likely erase all your personal
accounts and data. If System Restore is working, you could try going
back a bit further in time. No harm in trying as this is the simplest fix.

Otherwise, if you have a standard XP CD as well as your restore DVD, use
the CD to do a repair install on XP. Select "repair" and then select
"repair" again and select your current Windows folder as the target of
the repair. A repair (aka in-place upgrade) will not destroy your
personal data.

You could use the expand.exe command from a command prompt window to
pull all the cursor files out of \i386 or off the CD, but this could be
quite tedious and error-prone. expand supports wildcards, but be careful
if you choose this path. You'll have to hunt around for the appropriate
..cab file folder.
