I keep getting error to report to microsoft

Each time I resume my computer from hibernation or restar
my computer , I get " A application has encountered a
problem and needs to close. Please tell microsoft about
this problem

I have been doing that but it doesn't get resoloved.
After sending the report it gives an option for more
information. Well that opens another internet window and
the suggestion is to buy something from pestcontrol.com I
have spygot and hyjackthis. I cleaned up all outstanding
registry items with spygot. I don't see anything new with
hyjackthis.

The offending module is updmgr.exe It resides in Program
files \ Common Files I don't know what put it there

Is there anything anybody can think of ?
