I just want to label the columns in excel. Why difficult?

I tried to find reference to what should be a simple task, but could not find
a simple answer. I don't want to create labels for mailing, I don't want to
email anybody, I just want to label the columns in excel, like to put
headings or dates at the top of the columns.
 
Do you want to label those columns (meaning that you want to put "names" in
the first cell of each column) using ACCESS to write names into an EXCEL
worksheet?

If yes, post back with more information and details about what you're trying
to do.

If not, I recommend that you post to one of the EXCEL newsgroups.
 
no, even more basic than that. I do not want to use another program to write
anything into excel. I want to name the columns, i.e., A, B, C, D, etc. with
names OTHER than A, B, C, etc. I realize this may be too basic a question to
bother with, I haven't used excel in a while and forgot how to do this.
