i have my auto send/receive on 10 min and my pop3 account updates

however, my hotmail account wont automatically update and tell me that i have
a new email. anybody help me with this one?
 
You need to synch your Hotmail account manually by clicking on the inbox.

will hotmail not automatically update like my pop3? my pop3 notifies me by a
pop up in the taskbar. why not hotmail?

Because Hotmail doesn't do that. It's not a POP3 account.
