I have duplicate folders in my outlook folder list

I have duplicate folder in my outlook folder list. Both
original and duplicate contain same data. I want to delete
one but its not deleting.. Please advise
 
i had this problem once (outlook 2003). i wound up having to go into
tools>email accounts>change directories. from there you can click change for
the outlook address book, and delete some of the folders from there. the
problem is figuring out which ones. i wound up removing the 'outlook address
book' and then adding it back in. then the folder situation fixed itself.

What happens when you right-click the root of the folder file and click
"Close"?
