I had a folder to delete but I did not delete it?

I had a folder that I was wanting to keep that was deleted but I did not
delete it ? can you tell me what happened or if ther is some way i can get it
back? Tell me what caused that to that because I do not understand.
 
If something is deleted, whether it be a single email or a whole folder,
it should still be in the Deleted Items folder.

It happens to me about once every six months or so. I attribute it to
a slip of the finger, or not paying attention to what I'm doing.
